How does enrolment at Tauranganet work?
A clear, three-step admissions process with no hidden requirements or open-ended waiting periods.
Who Tauranganet accepts — and who we may not be the right fit for
Tauranganet accepts students in Years 9 to 13 and recent school-leavers preparing for university. We do not offer programmes for primary-school learners (Year 8 and below), students with English as an additional language requiring specialist ESOL support, or students seeking informal enrichment without structured assessment. Our programmes require consistent attendance — two or three sessions per week for the full term — and active completion of the weekly exit tasks. Families considering enrolment should be confident their student can commit to this schedule before applying.

Diagnostic session
A 90-minute diagnostic session (held in person or online) establishes the student's current skill profile. The adviser uses this to confirm programme placement and issue a written programme outline with fee schedule.

Confirmation and payment
Families review and sign the programme outline. A term fee is invoiced and must be paid before the first group session. Places are not held without payment confirmation.
Common admissions questions
Can my student join mid-term?
Mid-term entry is considered on a case-by-case basis for the Academic Foundations and NCEA Preparation programmes. A student joining after Week 3 will be assessed individually to determine whether the remaining sessions are sufficient for meaningful progress. The University Entry Bridging Programme does not accept mid-term entries, as the four graded assessments are sequentially structured.
Are sessions available online?
Yes. All three programmes offer a fully synchronised online track delivered via a dedicated video conferencing platform with shared whiteboard and document annotation tools. The curriculum, assessment cycle, and weekly exit tasks are identical to the in-person track. Online students receive the same monthly written reports and have access to the parent portal.
What happens if a session is missed?
Students who notify Tauranganet at least four hours before a session may attend a make-up session within the same week, subject to availability. Missed sessions without notification cannot be credited or rescheduled. Where a student misses more than two sessions in a term without a documented reason, the admissions adviser will contact the family to review whether continuation is appropriate.
Is there a sibling discount?
A 10 percent discount on the term fee applies to a second or subsequent sibling enrolled concurrently in any Tauranganet programme. The discount applies to the lower-value enrolment where programme fees differ. It cannot be combined with other fee concessions.
What is the refund policy?
Withdrawals notified before the end of Week 1 receive a full refund less the diagnostic session fee. Withdrawals in Weeks 2 or 3 receive a 50 percent refund of the remaining term fee. No refund is issued after Week 3. These terms are set out in the programme outline provided at Step 2 of the admissions process.
